Each plan also limits the emails you can send in a month. Mailchimp has a Free plan and three paid plans, and the paid ones are priced by the number of contacts you hold. At 10,000 contacts the regular monthly rate is $110 for Essentials, $135 for Standard and $350 for Premium, per Mailchimp's pricing page read on October 21, 2026. Each plan also limits how many emails you can send in a month.

The Free plan

The Free plan holds 250 contacts, 500 sends a month and 250 a day, per Mailchimp's help center. It has one audience and one seat, and email support for the first 30 days. It keeps Mailchimp's branding, and it has no scheduling, A/B tests, dynamic content or advanced segmentation. Its automation flows are a preview. Go over the contact or send limit and live sends stop until you upgrade or shrink the list.

The paid plans, by contacts

The table shows each plan's regular monthly price, the one Mailchimp's page shows as "starts at", for up to the number of contacts in the first column. "Not listed" means the pricing page shows no price at that size, not that the plan is free.

Contacts, up to Essentials Standard Premium
500 $13 $20 $350
1,500 $26.50 $45 $350
2,500 $45 $60 $350
5,000 $75 $100 $350
10,000 $110 $135 $350
15,000 $180 $230 $465
20,000 $230 $285 $535
25,000 $270 $310 $620
30,000 $300 $340 $685
40,000 $340 $410 $750
50,000 $385 $450 $815
75,000 Not listed $630 $900
100,000 Not listed $800 $1,025
130,000 Not listed Not listed $1,150
150,000 Not listed Not listed $1,325
200,000 Not listed Not listed $1,600

Premium is a flat $350 up to 10,000 contacts. Above 200,000 contacts, Mailchimp's pricing page sends you to sales. Per its plan comparison, Essentials tops out at 50,000 contacts and Standard at 100,000, and annual plans for Standard and Premium above 10,000 contacts are arranged through sales. No yearly price is on the page, so the table is monthly billing only.

What each plan includes

  • Essentials has automation flows of up to 4 steps, basic segmentation and 3 seats.
  • Standard adds advanced segmentation and flows of up to 200 points with multiple start points and branching.
  • Premium has the highest send limit of the three, 15 times the band's contacts.
  • Tags are on every plan.

The send limit

Each paid plan limits monthly sends to a multiple of the band's contacts: 10 times on Essentials, 12 times on Standard and 15 times on Premium. At the 10,000-contact band, that is 100,000 sends on Essentials. A weekly newsletter to the whole band uses about four times the contacts, so the limit rarely binds for it. A newsletter that sends every day can reach it.

Past a limit, Mailchimp's help center says the service continues on a paid plan and the excess is billed, in add-on blocks of contacts. A Standard block of 1,000 contacts includes 12,000 sends. The price of a block is shown only when you are signed in, so this post doesn't give it.

What counts as a contact

Per the help center, subscribed, unsubscribed and non-subscribed contacts count toward a plan's contact limit. Cleaned, pending, archived and deleted contacts don't. Your bill follows the peak contact total in the billing period, so removing contacts in the middle of a cycle doesn't lower that cycle's bill. A list with many old unsubscribes can cost more than its active readers suggest.

The first-year offer

Mailchimp's pricing page advertises 15% off the first 12 months from 10,000 contacts. Its terms say the offer is for new customers, or free-plan accounts under 90 days old, in certain countries. The table above is the regular rate, without the offer, which is what the price becomes after the first year.

Other ways to pay

Mailchimp also lists a 14-day free trial of Standard or Essentials, and a Pay As You Go plan in which each send costs a credit. Its help center says credits expire after 12 months and that the plan isn't available in every region.

Questions

Is Mailchimp free?
Yes, up to a point. Per Mailchimp's help center and pricing pages, read on October 21, 2026, the Free plan holds 250 contacts and 500 sends a month, with a limit of 250 a day. It has one audience and one seat, keeps Mailchimp branding, and has no scheduling, A/B tests or advanced segmentation. Sending pauses if you pass a limit.
How much does Mailchimp cost for 10,000 contacts?
At the regular monthly rate, per the table on this page, Essentials is $110, Standard is $135 and Premium is $350 for up to 10,000 contacts. Mailchimp advertises 15% off the first 12 months from 10,000 contacts, which is not in those prices.

What happens if I send more than my plan allows?
Per Mailchimp's help center, the service is not interrupted on a paid plan. Mailchimp charges for add-on blocks of contacts, and its pricing page says the excess is billed automatically. The price of a block is shown only when you are signed in, so this post doesn't give it.
