The pricing model
How FlockStack pricing works
- You pay for the emails you send. Each paid plan has a monthly email allowance and a cap on active subscribers. There is no fee per subscriber on top.
- Past your allowance, sending goes on. Extra emails cost $0.15 per 1,000, up to a monthly limit you set. On the Free plan a send that wouldn't fit is refused and nothing is billed.
- Yearly costs 10 months. Pay for a year and the plan costs 10 months' price instead of 12.
- In the paid plans: campaigns, scheduling, website, your own domain, signup forms, welcome emails, imports, stats, and AI agents and API, with no “Sent with FlockStack” link.
Paid subscriptions
Fees when your readers pay you
FlockStack takes 0% of what you sell. Readers pay your own Stripe account, and Stripe's processing fees still come off each payment. Your FlockStack plan is a separate cost, and selling works on every plan, the Free plan included. Paid newsletters has the details.
Questions
Pricing, answered
- How does FlockStack pricing work?
- FlockStack has a Free plan and 5 paid plans, from $9 a month. A plan is sized by the emails you send in a month, and caps the active subscribers you can hold. There is no separate fee per subscriber.
- Is there a free plan?
- Yes. Free is $0 with no card: 2,500 subscribers, 10,000 emails a month, 1 newsletter and 2 automations besides the welcome email. Your emails and website carry a small Sent with FlockStack link, which any paid plan removes.
- What happens when I use all the emails in my plan?
- On a paid plan, sending continues and extra emails cost $0.15 per 1,000, up to a monthly limit you set on the billing page. On the Free plan, a send that would pass 10,000 emails a month is refused up front, and nothing is billed. Confirmation emails are never billed as extra.
- Does yearly billing save money?
- Yes. A yearly plan costs 10 months' price instead of 12.
- Does FlockStack take a cut of what I earn from my newsletter?
- No. Readers pay your own Stripe account, and FlockStack takes 0% of what you sell. Stripe's processing fees still come off each payment, and your FlockStack plan is a separate cost.
- Can I get a refund?
- If you ask within 30 days of buying a yearly plan, you get a pro rata refund of the unused part of the year. After 30 days, cancelling keeps your access to the end of the paid year. A monthly plan ends when you cancel, and you keep access through the month you paid for.
- Will the price go up?
- If a price goes up, FlockStack emails you at least 90 days before it takes effect for your plan, and until then you keep paying the price you have.
- What if my list is bigger than the largest plan?
- Custom is for lists past 400,000 active subscribers or 2,000,000 emails a month. It has no public price: you tell FlockStack what you send and get a reply within 2 business days.
- How does FlockStack's price compare with beehiiv or Substack?
- It depends on your list, how often you send and whether readers pay you. The newsletter cost calculator works out each platform's estimate from its published prices, dated and sourced, and doesn't pick a winner.
