Pricing
How FlockStack is priced
Updated
The short version
FlockStack's paid plans are priced by the emails you send in a month. Each plan has an allowance of emails and a cap on active subscribers, and you pay for the plan, not for every subscriber on top of it. The Free plan costs nothing and has limits, listed below. Selling to your readers costs you Stripe's processing fees and nothing to FlockStack. Only one price is set at cost, the dedicated IP.
The plans
These are FlockStack Cloud's current plans, in US dollars. The pricing page shows the same plans on a slider, with the price of each billing period.
| Plan | Per month | Per year | Emails a month | Active subscribers |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | 10,000 | 2,500 |
| Starter | $9 | $90 | 25,000 | 5,000 |
| Growth | $29 | $290 | 125,000 | 25,000 |
| Pro | $59 | $590 | 250,000 | 50,000 |
| Scale | $109 | $1,090 | 500,000 | 100,000 |
| Max | $299 | $2,990 | 2,000,000 | 400,000 |
| Custom | Let's talk | Let's talk | Over 2,000,000 | Over 400,000 |
Yearly billing costs 10 months' price instead of 12. Past Max, which holds 400,000 active subscribers or 2,000,000 emails a month, there is a Custom plan with no price list: you say what you send and FlockStack replies personally within 2 business days.
What the price follows
The emails you send. Every email counts toward the month: issues, test emails, welcome emails and confirmation emails. The cap on active subscribers is the second limit. Readers who stop opening are given a last-chance email and then set aside as dormant, never deleted and never unsubscribed. A dormant reader is not emailed, so it stops using your allowance, and it stops counting toward the cap. A list you email weekly costs less to hold than one you email daily, and a platform priced by subscribers charges the same for both. What a newsletter costs at different sizes works through sample lists.
What the Free plan limits, and why
The Free plan holds 2,500 subscribers and 10,000 emails a month, with 1 newsletter and 2 automations besides the welcome email. It has one webhook endpoint, a post import of 100 posts and 200 MB of images, and shared sending IPs only. Your own sending and archive domains, polls, surveys, forms, the REST API and the MCP server are on it. So is selling to your readers, and exporting your data.
In return, your emails and your website carry a small "Sent with FlockStack" link, which a paid plan removes. Confirmation emails do not carry it.
A free plan draws spam, so it has guards. Your first 3 campaigns go to 500 people at most while FlockStack gets to know your sending, and the bounce and complaint levels that pause sending are lower on Free. A send that would not fit in the month's emails is refused up front with the numbers, never cut halfway, and nothing is billed. An account over Free's limits keeps and can read everything it has; campaigns wait until it is under them or upgrades. A paid plan that ends, or a failed payment, puts the account back on Free, and nothing is deleted.
Past your plan's emails
On a paid plan, sending goes on. Extra emails cost $0.15 per 1,000, billed with your plan at the end of the period, up to a monthly limit you set on the billing page. The allowance of each plan reaches its full subscriber list 5 times a month on every paid plan and 4 on Free. If you pass it every month, the next plan up is the better price.
The dedicated IP, sold at cost
A dedicated IP is your own sending address, for senders with a steady volume. It is an add-on on Pro, Scale and Max, and it is the one price FlockStack sets at cost. At cost. AWS charges us $24.95 a month for your own sending IP and card fees come to about $1.50; you pay $27 a month, with no markup on top. We make our money from your plan, not your IP.
It costs $27 a month, billed monthly even if your plan is yearly. FlockStack warms the IP up over about 30 days, sending a growing share of your email through it and the rest through shared IPs. It is set up once you have paid, usually within 2 business days if none is free, and it ends when you cancel it or when your plan drops below Pro. Custom plans include one. A dedicated IP does not fix a sender's reputation by itself, and it is not for small lists. The API documentation describes the add-on for agents and scripts.
What FlockStack does not charge for
- A fee for every subscriber. The plan is the price.
- A cut of your sales. FlockStack sets no application fee on subscriptions, gifts or products. Readers pay your own Stripe account, and Stripe's processing fees apply. See the paid newsletter platform page.
- Getting your data out. Account export writes your contacts as a CSV and every issue as Markdown and HTML, on every plan, even a blocked account or one without a plan.
- The API or the MCP server. Both are on every plan, the Free plan included.
Price changes and cancelling
FlockStack gives 90 days' notice by email before a price increase, and the current price applies until it takes effect, per its terms of service. You can cancel at any time and export first. Self-hosted, FlockStack has no plans: you pay your own server and email provider. The self-hosted newsletter page covers what that takes.
What this page leaves out
It describes FlockStack Cloud's plans as they are today, from the same data as the pricing page. Taxes are not included in any price here. To compare with other platforms, with each fact sourced and dated, see the comparison and the cost calculator.
